Danbury Fire on Main Street Displaces 25 People

First responders found a smoke condition and suspected a fire in the wall

DANBURY, CT — A fire on Main Street Thursday displaced approximately 25 people overnight, the Danbury Fire Department is reporting.

The firefighters responded to a 911 call late last night regarding smoke on the second floor of 5 Main Street. First responders found a smoke condition as reported and suspected a fire in the wall, and upgraded the incident to a second alarm.

"Crews made quick work of a fire in the floor and wall of the second floor apartments," the report said. Despite those efforts, approximately 25 people were displaced for the night. American Red Cross Connecticut responded to the scene to aid the families affected.

Danbury PD and EMS assisted at the scene. No injuries were reported.

The Danbury Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire, which remains undetermined.
