Danbury Firefighters Battle Garage Blaze
The site of a glass blowing operation, the garage contained oxygen and propane tanks.
DANBURY, CT -- There were no injuries reported after a garage on Fairlawn Avenue caught fire.
The Danbury Fire Department report hearing an explosion early Sunday morning right before flames were sighted and they were dispatched to battle the blaze.
Upon arrival, Deputy Chief Bernie Meehan reports finding a two bay, detached garage with heavy fire showing. The incident was upgraded to a working fire, bringing in additional units to assist. The garage contained hazardous materials inside in the form of oxygen and propane tanks for a glass blowing operation.

As there are no fire hydrants on Fairlawn, crews had to stretch supply hose 700 feet across back yards from Edgewood Street. The fire was quickly extinguished by crews on scene, the FD said in a release.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. by the fire marshal.
