Danbury Firefighters Rescue 5 People, 1 Cat, From Condo Blaze
None of the evacuees sustained any serious injuries, and were cared for by Danbury EMS, according to fire officials.
DANBURY, CT — Firefighters rescued five residents and a cat from a burning condominium building Wednesday afternoon.
The Danbury Fire Department was notified of the blaze in Building B at the Lions Condominium at 126 Triangle Street at 3:17 p.m. from both a fire alarm and a number of 911 calls, officials said.
First responders reported heavy smoke pouring from a third floor balcony slider and numerous people trying to evacuate.

"Firefighters quickly went to work to stretch a hoseline to the fire floor, while also searching for victims," DFD officials posted on social media.
Lt. Nicholas Cabral carried one resident on the third floor deck of an adjoining apartment to safety. A family of four and their cat managed to climb from the third floor balcony onto the roof, where they were rescued by firefighter Sean Wanat.

The fire department said the blaze was quickly extinguished, and the firefighters were able to contain the fire to one apartment, with some water damage to two more units.

The American Red Cross Connecticut is working to assist the displaced residents, and the Fire Marshals Office is conducting their investigation into the cause of the fire.
