The City of Danbury has endured decades of flooding that presents public safety challenges, leading to the closure of Main Street and damage to properties situated along the East Ditch alignment. Downtown Danbury is also vulnerable to extreme heat. This is attributed primarily to the high social vulnerability within the community, combined with dense housing. This project will focus on developing adaption strategies and implementable concepts which will help to mitigate the impacts of current and future climate induced flooding.
"The City of Danbury is proud to partner with CIRCA to address flooding and extreme heat concerns in our community. Having a plan for these types of emergencies will keep our residents safe and reduce the impacts of these types of weather emergencies in the future,” said Mayor Dean Esposito.
