Danbury I-Pledge Cracks Down on Littering
Residents are asked to take a nine-point pledge to make picking up litter a part of their lives.

A new initiative from Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton’s office is cracking down on littering.
The Danbury-I Pledge is the city’s newest blight and litter control initiative.
To enforce the initiative, there will be increased police enforcement of litter laws and statutes. Additionally, the Unified Neighborhood Inspection Team (UNIT) will notify those in violation of Danbury blight ordinances.

Along with increased enforcement, the city will be installing new sidewalk trash containers throughout the city center and beyond. Eco friendly recyclable trash units will be introduced for the city center and parks.
Fines for those who litter range from a minimum of $219 to $25,000 or imprisonment of one year if the material being dumped is deemed hazardous.

A big component of the campaign will be to educate the youth on the damage litter poses to the community.
The initiative comes with a nine-point pledge.
