Danbury, Immaculate High School Runners Qualify for New England Championships
The Danbury boys team and the Immaculate girls team will compete next weekend based on stellar performances at Friday's State Open.
MANCHESTER, CT — For the second straight year, the boys cross country team from Danbury High School finished as runnersup in the State Open championship Friday at Wickham Park in Manchester.
Staples compiled 61 points to hold off Danbury, which had 77. The two schools had also placed first and second in the 2015 Open.
Dan Nichols (6th), Tyler Granja (13th) and Trevor Reed (18th) placed in the top 25 for the Hatters, who advance to the New England Cross Country Championships Nov. 12 at Ponaganset High School in North Scituate, R.I.

Immaculate will be represented in the girls race at the New Englands after placing fifth in the Open. Angela Saidman (5th) was the lone Mustang individual to place in the top 25.
