The new center would include a shelter for the homeless and the organizations that serve them.

DANBURY, CT - Mayor Mark Boughton is looking to consolidate the city’s homeless shelters, hopefully settling a controversy in the process, the Danbury News Times reported.

City officials are hoping to create a downtown community services center, according to the Danbury News Times. The new center would include a shelter for the homeless, as well as space for the organizations that serve them.

The new center is hoped to settle recent controversy over the Dorothy Day shelter on Spring Street, the Danbury News Times reported. The shelter has seen ongoing complaints from residents about illicit activity since the summer of 2015.
