Danbury Man Charged After Investigation of Juvenile Overdoses

DANBURY, CT — Police arrested a Danbury man on Friday, charging him with dealing fentanyl to two juveniles who later overdosed.

Police began their investigation of the juvenile overdoses on May 28, gathering information that led them to obtaining search and seizure warrants for the person, car and residence of Smill “Changa” Almanzar-Nunez, a 33-year-old Danbury resident. The suspect was also the subject of another active investigation involving illegal drugs being sold throughout the Danbury area.

Officers executed the warrants on Friday, detaining Almanzar-Nunez after he left his residence on Merrimac Street. They discovered he was in possession of a "substantial quantity of illicit drugs," according to the police report.

Almanzar-Nunez was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, two counts of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell, and three counts of risk of injury to a child. He was held on a $250,000 bond.
