Danbury Man Killed In Hit-And-Run: Police

Police say a Danbury man was killed following a hit-and-run crash in New Milford on Tuesday.

DANBURY, CT — Police say a Danbury man was killed following a hit-and-run crash Tuesday.

Galo Rafael Guaman-Sarmiento, 61, was struck at approximately 5:11 p.m. while crossing Danbury Road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

New Milford Police believe the car was a black Ford Fusion, with damage to the driver's side of the front bumper, the driver's side headlamp, and the driver's side mirror.

A GoFundMe page established by the family describes the victim as a "man who has spent years in this country working to help his family who lives in Ecuador"and was better known as "Don Rafael." Money raised by the fundraising effort will go towards sending his remains home to his family.
