Danbury Man Killed When Car Strikes Tree: State Police

A man is dead following an accident Thursday morning in Haddam, according to state police.

HADDAM, CT — A Danbury man was killed after his car struck a tree in Haddam on Thursday morning, according to state police.

A 2005 Honda Accord was driving south on Route 9 near exit 19 at 6:05 a.m.

The car left the road and hit a tree in the grass median.

The driver, Francisco Alves Ribeiro, 61, of Danbury, was declared dead at the scene of the accident, state police said.

The crash remains under investigation.
