Danbury Mayor Makes Valentine's Day Appeal to Amazon
With New York City now out of the picture, is it wrong to dream?

DANBURY, CT — With the announcement that Amazon left New York City at the altar, Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton tossed Hat City back into the ring, for another swing.
Danbury may not have been Amazon's first or second choice to host its new global headquarters (HQ2), but with the Big Apple out of the way, opportunity knocks anew.
The mayor dusted off the city's original 2017 pitch to the online leviathan, and added some hearts-and-flowers polish for the occasion.

“Hey Amazon, we heard you are back on the market... will you be our Valentine?" the mayor posted alongside the video on the city's Facebook page.
In the 1:20 promo, Boughton touts how Danbury was named the best city in Connecticut to do business, and the second best place to live in the U.S. He also gushes over its diversity, safety, and "fast and efficient permit process."

The retailer made a splash in 2017 with a widely-publicized cattle call to cities interested in hosting its second global headquarters. Long Island City, NY, and Crystal City, Virginia, near Washington, D.C. were given the nod late in 2018. But after aggressive protests in New York from local elected officials and activists opposed to the nearly $3 billion incentive package the firm was to receive for the project, Amazon rescinded its offer on Thursday.
