Danbury Mayor Proposes More Capital Spending in 2015-16 Budget
The mayor presented the proposed budget last night.

Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton proposed a $238 million budget Tuesday, the News Times reports.
The budget carries a 2.4 percent increase in the tax rate and includes a big investment in city infrastructure.
According to the News Times, Boughton said low interest rates make this a good year for investing in capital projects. The $30 million proposed is six times the normal amount of a capital budget.

The impact of the big capital plan will not affect taxpayers too much as the city will have less debt service next year, the paper reports. There is a spending increase of 0.8 percent in the budget, all of which is going towards the school budget.
Before a vote to adopt the budget is taken a public hearing will be scheduled by the City Council.
