Danbury Names New Principal for Shelter Rock School

The appointment is effective as of July 1.

DANBURY, CT -- The Board of Education has named Anna Machial the new principal of Shelter Rock School as of July 1.

Machial comes to Danbury from the New Britain Public Schools, where she held positions as assistant principal at the elementary and secondary levels for the past four years. Prior to being an administrator, Machial taught for 11 years in at the elementary and middle school levels in Regional School District 12 and Waterbury schools, earning recognition as “Teacher of the Year” and as a Washington Education Policy Program Fellow.

“As a master teacher and an administrator, Ms. Machial brings a wealth of experience from urban schools like ours,” said superintendent Dr. Sal Pascarella. “In her role as an assistant principal in New Britain, she clearly earned the support and respect of the faculty and staff. Fluent in both Spanish and Portuguese, Ms. Machial spoke at great length with us about her belief in establishing strong connections to families and caregivers as the essential foundation for growth in student learning. She impressed us all as a good match for our Shelter Rock community, and we are eager to welcome her to Danbury.”

Machial earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of New Haven, a master’s degree in Education from the University of Bridgeport, and a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Administration from Sacred Heart University.
