Danbury Nanny Accused of Intentionally Burning Child Enters Plea
Lidia Quilligana is accused of intentionally inflicting burns upon a little child she was babysitting.

The Danbury woman accused of intentionally burning a 3-year-old child she was babysitting pleaded not guilty Wednesday, the News Times reports.
Lidia Quilligana, 31, of Homestead Avenue was arrested and charged with first-degree assault, risk of injury to a minor and third-degree criminal mischief on March 27.
The child’s mother told police that her 3-year-old daughter had been assaulted by the nanny earlier in the day, which resulted in second degree burns to the child’s hands and leg.

According to police, when the mother arrived home and noticed the injuries to her child, Quilligana said the child accidentally touched the stove while she was tending to other children.

The child was treated for the injuries.
The mother reviewed the video from the hidden nanny camera and observed that the injuries were intentionally inflicted upon her daughter by Quilligana, police said.
According to the News Times, Quilligana faces a 20-year prison sentence and is being held on a $1 million bail.
