Danbury PD Investigation Leads to Two Arrested on Drug Charges

One man attempted to swallow 'a substantial quantity of cocaine,' according to police.

DANBURY, CT — Police arrested two men on Thursday on drug-related charges after a weeks-long investigation that stemmed from complaints made by residents of suspicious activities.

At approximately 7 p.m. on Oct. 11, police executed a search warrant at 12C Bank Street, the residence of Christopher Kevin Maloney. Upon entering, a second man, Chevalier Terrell Purvis, disobeyed orders not to move and immediately began to run to the rear of the apartment. Police say Purvis became combative and actively resisted attempts to restrain him, attempting to swallow "a substantial quantity of cocaine." Officers were able to retrieve the cocaine from Purvis' mouth, as well as throughout the apartment.

In addition to seizing the drugs, police say they also found a substantial quantity of U.S. currency and drug paraphernalia.
