Danbury PD Searching For Grinch Who Swiped Scholarship Cash From VFW

DANBURY, CT — Police are looking for a man they say stole a scholarship donation bin from a Veterans of Foreign War hall in Danbury.

Officers were notified of the theft on Monday by the commander of VFW Post 149 on Byron Street, where the incident occurred.

The commander told police he was working the bar at the hall's canteen on Dec. 23 when a man entered and sat down with a friend. Surveillance footage shows that man taking the college scholarship donation bin, containing $114, from the bar and placing it beneath his jacket.

The theft was not noticed until Dec. 30, according to a police spokesperson.
