PD: Statewide Warrant Sweep Nabs 16 Drug Offenders in Danbury
Over 90 municipal, state, and federal law enforcement agencies in Connecticut participated in a statewide warrant sweep operation.
DANBURY, CT -- On Thursday, July 18, Danbury police, along over 90 other municipal, state, and federal law enforcement agencies in Connecticut, participated in a statewide warrant sweep operation throughout the state. Sixteen people were apprehended in Danbury on drug charges as part of the operation, out of 270 arrest warrants were served statewide.
All arrest warrants served were for State of Connecticut charges and pertain to crimes in violation of Connecticut General Statutes.
"The operation proved to be a stellar example of collaboration to uphold the judicial system, which demands fugitives from justice are presented with an opportunity to a speedy and fair trial," the police said in a release. "Likewise, we have capitalized on this opportunity to enhance community safety by removing proven and potentially dangerous fugitives from the streets. Furthermore, this operation shows the commitment and the spirit of cooperation amongst the law the enforcement community, which will no doubt continue after the conclusion of this operation."

According to the police, approximately 9 pounds of raw marijuana, more than two pounds of marijuana oil, tens of manufactured marijuana cigarettes, tens of disposable vape type pens containing marijuana, hundreds of empty disposable vape type pens and more than $17,000 was seized with regard to the Danbury arrests.
