Danbury Police Aids Mother and Child, as Storm Hits (VIDEO)

The video was captured from a nearby office window.

DANBURY, CT -- The rain came down sudden and heavy in Danbury on Tuesday, catching many residents by surprise, before drenching them.

At least one woman, along with her young child, just managed to just beat the rain. In the process she learned that chivalry is not dead, it just wears blue and a badge.

A video captured from an office window just above the scene showed how a Danbury police officer stopped his vehicle to give the woman and her child a lift moments before the rain began coming down in a torrent.

In the video, the woman picks up the child and places her stroller in the back of the squad car, which is stopped in the middle of the street as traffic re-directs itself around it. The officer shuts the door of the car and then drives away.

The video was taken by John Alfredo, who according to his Facebook page, is an embalmer at the Green Funeral Home on Main Street in Danbury.

He published the video with the following commentary:

Danbury’s finest.....it was nice to witness this today out of my office window. Torrential rain was fast approaching and this officer pulls over and clearly offered this woman and her little child a safe “DRY” ride home. I thought this would be a great opportunity to show how much our local PD’s do care and are willing to help even when they don’t have to!

The Danbury Fire Department, in a spirit of collegiality, shared the video here.
