Danbury Police Arrest Alleged Newtown Drug Dealer

The man's criminal associate was a juvenile female from Bethel, police say.

DANBURY, CT — Police arrested a Newtown man and a Bethel girl for a variety of drug related offenses following a weeks long investigation.

Danbury police requested search and seizure warrants for Newtown resident Edwin “Taco” Martinez, a phone, a car and the Bethel residence of his juvenile associate after they had received information that Martinez was selling illegal drugs throughout the Danbury area, according to police report.

The police initiated the warrants on Wednesday afternoon. Martinez and the juvenile female were stopped by investigators of the Danbury and Bethel Police Department after they entered a local business in Bethel. The search and seizure warrants for the car and Martinez was initiated at that time. Approximately five minutes later, investigators entered the Bethel residence and initiated the final search and seizure warrant.

According to the report, police found a "substantial quantity" of liquid THC, leaf marijuana, cocaine and benzodiazepine. Martinez and the female juvenile were placed under arrest and transported to the Danbury Police Department where they were charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
