Danbury Police Arrest Woman After Route 7 Chase

Brookfield police first spotted her driving while talking on the phone.

DANBURY, CT — Danbury Police have arrested Laura Perkins, 32, after she fled fro Brookfield police along Route 7.

Brookfield police initially tried to pull Perkins over Sunday morning when they saw here driving on Federal Road while talking on the phone. Instead of slowing down and stopping, Perkins accelerated and fled. Police gave chase, but were unable to catch up with her as she wove through traffic, drove onto the grass, and sped through a red light southbound on Route 7.

The Brookfield police gave up the chase, but notified the Danbury police, who checked Perkins' address. They found her car in the driveway, and arrested her nearby.

Perkins was taken to the Brookfield police station and charged with using a cell phone while operating a motor vehicle, failure to obey a traffic control signal, passing on the right, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, failure to drive in the proper lane, traveling unreasonably fast, engaging police in pursuit, and reckless driving. She was held on a $1,500 bond, and is scheduled for court on April 24.
