Danbury Police and Fire Crews Respond to Porch Blaze

A cop noticed the fire while on patrol.

DANBURY, CT — Both the police and fire departments had a hand in putting down a house fire Saturday afternoon. No one was injured in the blaze, the fire department reported.

At about 12:40 p.m., Danbury Police Officer Emilio Masella noticed a fire on a second floor porch at 111 Rose Hill Avenue, while he was on patrol. Masella called the fire department, then grabbed the fire extinguisher from his patrol car and went to work on the porch fire.

Additional police arrived and alerted the residents in the house of the fire.

Within two minutes, firefighters were on the scene to extinguish the fire and remove the occupants from the building. Fire crews completed their work in under 20 minutes.

The incident is under investigation by the Danbury Fire Marshal's Office.
