Danbury Police Nab Bethel Duo on Drug Charges

The arrest followed a lengthy investigation sparked by a citizen complaint of drug sales throughout the Danbury area.

DANBURY, CT — Police charged two Bethel residents on a variety of drug-related charges.

Francisco Joel Martinez-Soto and Alise Martinez were arrested on Thursday following a lengthy investigation triggered by complaints regarding Martinez-Soto selling illegal drugs in Danbury and throughout the greater Danbury area, according to the Danbury PD.

After obtaining search and seizure warrants, police approached Martinez-Soto in his car while he was stopped on Deer Hill Avenue late Thursday afternoon. Police say they found him in possession of several ounces of cocaine and more than $45,000 cash. A later search of his home on Juniper Road in Bethel revealed a small quantity of cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and several hundred dollars more, according to the police.

"As a result of our findings and further information, which linked Alise to drug sales, they were both arrested and transported to the Danbury Police Department where they were charged for the illegal drugs and risk of injury to a child," Det. Lt. Mark Williams said.

Martinez-Soto was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of more than a half-ounce of cocaine with intent to sell, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school, possession of a controlled substance within 1,500 feet of a school, possession of drug paraphernalia and risk of injury to a child. His bond was set at $250,000.

Martinez was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of more than a half-ounce of cocaine with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia and risk of injury to a child. She was later released on a $100,000 bond.
