Danbury Recruiting for Citizen Police Academy
The Citizen Police Academy is offered twice a year, the first session in the winter/spring and the second session in the summer/autumn.

DANBURY, CT — The Danbury Police Department has announced it is currently offering the Citizen Police Academy to the residents of the City of Danbury, business owners in the City of Danbury as well as persons who work within the city.
The Citizen Police Academy is offered twice a year, the first session in the winter/spring and the second session in the summer/autumn. There is no participation fee associated with attending the Citizen Police Academy.
The course is intended to give individuals the opportunity to learn more about the operations of their police department, police procedures, and to foster enhanced understanding and cooperation between the police and the community they serve., according to the city's website. It is not intended to make citizens into police officers but rather "to heighten awareness of both the public and police in an effort to develop a partnership between both."

The Danbury Police Department’s objective is to provide interactive instruction in many basic police department tasks as well as provide an opportunity for individuals to role-play and have hands-on experience with the tools of the police trade.
The Citizen Police Academy requires a commitment of one night per week for eleven weeks. The sessions will begin on Tuesday evening March 12, from 6:30-9:30 p.m. and continue every Tuesday evening thereafter until May 21. The Academy will cover topics such as Laws of Arrest, Penal Code, Patrol Procedures, Crime Scene Investigation, and Defensive Tactics. Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
