Danbury Schools Adopt Initiatives to Combat Violence

The initiatives developed by the Sandy Hook Promise debuted this week.

Two initiatives developed by the Sandy Hook Promise Foundation debuted in the city’s schools this week, the News Times reports.

The first initiative is called “Say Something” teaches students to recognize warning signs that peers may be about to hurt themselves while the second called “Start With Hello” teaches students to reach out to peers who are chronically isolated.

Superintendent of Schools Sal Pascarella, who also serves as president of the Connecticut Association of Public Schools Superintendents is advocation for statewide adoption of the initiatives.
