Danbury Unemployment Rises with Rest of CT to Highest Figure of Year
The unemployment rate rises statewide and locally.

July jobs figures showed a rise in unemployment throughout Connecticut, and Danbury hit the highest jobless figure of 2012, 7.7 percent.
Danbury's unemployment rate hit the lowest rate at 5.9 percent in April and its peak so far with July's 7.7 percent.
“The phrase ‘worst economic downturn since the Great Depression’ is used so often, we’ve become immune to the words. But they’re true. So, it should come as a surprise to no one that pulling the country and our state out of that downturn is hard. Really hard,” said . “But let me be clear: we are making progress, and I have every confidence we’ll continue to make progress.”

In Connecticut, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate is 8.5 percent and the national rate is 8.3 percent.
