Danbury Woman Turns To Community After 'Life Altering Tragedy'
A Danbury woman faces a long recovery after she fell three stories from a rooftop in NYC.
DANBURY, CT — An online fundraiser for an aspiring teacher in Danbury is 80 percent to its goal.
Danbury resident Jennifer Roos, 21, took a 3-story tumble from a Brooklyn, NY, rooftop while visiting friends on Jan. 8. She sustained multiple, serious injuries, including a fractured spine, dislocation of both ankles, two shattered both feet and heels, and a punctured lung due to broken ribs.
"Needless to say, this is a life altering tragedy for both Jen and her family," her sister Victoria Markham posted on the GoFundMe page, "Jennifer's Recovery."

The GoFundMe account for Roos was established Jan. 13, with a goal of raising $50,000 to offset medical expenses. As of Friday afternoon, the total contributed stood at $40,258 from 568 donations.
"Jen is looking at numerous further surgeries and will have a long recovery ahead. Her parents are both public school teachers, looking at the loss of at least one income," her sister wrote.

Roos, a 2021 graduate of Danbury High School, is an education major at Eastern Connecticut State University.
"We are kindly asking for donations to support Jen’s recovery- medical bills, equipment and environmental adaptations. Any amount is greatly appreciated. Please share far and wide in support of my little sister," Markham wrote.
