DANBURY, CT — A New York City man was accused of causing a car to flip over while drag racing on I-684 that injured a Connecticut woman. New York State Police said Quintin Rodriguez, 27, of Rockaway Beach, Queens, was charged with second-degree reckless endangerment and reckless driving, both misdemeanors.

Police said that, around 2 p.m. April 16, troopers were sent to the area of mile marker 22 northbound on I-684 just north of Exit 7 at Route 116 in the Town of North Salem for a reported personal injury motor vehicle crash.

When they got to the location, troopers said they found a damaged vehicle on the shoulder of the interstate and a second vehicle on Route 22.

Their investigation said Rodriquez, who was driving a 2019 Kia Optima, was racing an unidentified car going north.

While racing, Rodriguez sideswiped a 2007 Acura RDX, causing it to strike the guide rail, then overturn and fall onto Route 22, police said.
