Ellington is a Danbury native and comes to Elevate after serving as the Chief of Programs at CT RISE, a non-profit providing educational program support to over 12,000 students in 8 districts. Before CT RISE, Ellington spent 12 years at Achievement First where she held a variety of roles: overseeing the network’s elementary schools as a regional superintendent, serving as a turnaround school principal, and leading student culture as a dean.
Elevate, approved by the CT State Board of Education to operate Danbury Charter School (DCS), is planning to open in Danbury in the fall of 2024, pending approval of funding by the legislature in the upcoming session. The first charter school in the Hat City is anticipated to welcome 6th graders in its first year, and will follow an International Baccalaureate model - the first charter school in the state to adopt the rigorous IB academic infrastructure.
