Esty Returns $350,000 in Campaign Contributions

Monies refunded include $116,000 returned to 40 political action committees in California and Washington, D.C.

DANBURY, CT -- Fifth Connecticut congressional district Representative Elizabeth Esty has returned $350,000 in campaign contributions, The News Times is reporting, citing financial disclosure statements.

Esty declined to run for re-election in the wake of a scandal arising over how much she knew about employee abuse in her campaign office

The refunds included individual contributors from Connecticut, whose donations ranged from $50 to $2,700, as well as $116,000 returned to 40 political action committees in California and Washington, D.C.
