YMCA Summer Camps

The Y offers summer camps to families throughout the area at Camp Greenknoll located in Brookfield, at the Grassy Plain childcare center in Bethel, and through ESCAPE to the Arts in Danbury. 

Camp Greenknoll will introduce several new programs will be introduced this year including: Young Adventurers for our older campers which will provide programs that help campers gain confidence, problem solving skills, and build communication and trust.   In addition there will be a Counselor-In-Training (CIT) Program designed for older campers who, supervised by a coordinator, will explore & learn how to become a counselor and leader. Camp Greenknoll welcomes campers as young as 3 and offers extended care in the morning and afternoon.  It offers an expansive ropes course that allows campers to work on team building, trust, and camaraderie.  Camp opens at 7AM and ends at 6:30PM and runs June 17 and it will end on August 26. 

ESCAPE to the Arts is for ages 3-12 and enables children to explore creativity, learn artistic technique, discover the value of teamwork, and build self-esteem.   The goal is to provide a fun summer learning experience through the arts with a variety of week-long programs.  New this year ESCAPE will offer full day program in conjunction with Camp Greenknoll.  Half day programs include both thematic and specialty art weeks.

Grassy Plain is open to children ages 5-12 and provides swim time, special events field trips, outdoor games, sports, team building, cookouts, crafts, and options in drama, science, and cooking. In addition, the year round experienced staff will assist campers with their summer reading list and math packets in order to address the summer learning loss and keep literacy and math skills fresh all summer.

The Y’s summer Club offers a balance between outdoor and indoor activities combined with field trips.
