Expect DMV Spot Checks

The state police, along with the DMV, will be running truck and bus spot checks around the state starting Tuesday.

The state Department of Motor Vehicles will conduct a three-day truck safety enforcement blitz on I-84, I-95, I-91, I-395 and on I-384 starting Tuesday.

Members of the Connecticut State Police, along with members of the department’s Commercial Vehicle Safety Division, will check tires, brakes, lights, log books, height and weight requirements, driver fatigue, the number of hours a driver has been driving and other things.

“We want truck and bus company operators, as well as drivers of their vehicles, to know that safety is a top priority in Connecticut,” said Melody A. Currey, commissioner of the state DMV. “On the spot we will put out of service vehicles we find that are in violation.”
