Eyesore On The Block
Eduardo Batista, who owns numerous Dunkin Donut shops in Danbury, is asking the city for zoning changes to remove two abandoned buildings on Main Street and to replace them with one smaller building.

Danbury Dunkin Donut franchise owner Eduardo Batista is asking the city for the right to demolish two dilapidated buildings on Main Street and to replace them with a new building on the same spot.
The new building will hold a shop or two, said Danbury Attorney Neil Marcus, who represents Batista.
The two ruined buildings are near his Dunkin Donuts on Main Street near Patch Street. Marcus said the plan is to remove the two boarded-up buildings, which don't meet existing zoning requirements, and to replace them with one building that is more compliant.

Sean Hearty in the city's permit center said the proposed building won't meet all existing side yard set backs and parking regulations, but it won't be an abandoned building, either.
The Zoning Board of Appeals will hear the petition in October.
