Fire Destroys Car in New Fairfield

Firefighters tackled the burning car during the afternoon rush before closing the road.

NEW FAIRFIELD, CT — Firefighters closed a road while they tackled a car fire late Wednesday afternoon.

Shortly before 5 p.m. members of the New Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to handle a burning car in front of 182 Pine Hill Road. First describers described a "fully involved" fire, and closed the road for around 30 minutes while they extinguished the blaze and the wreckage of the car was towed away.

The fire is under investigation by the fire marshal.
