Danbury Firefighters Rescue Man From Beneath 200-lb. Stone Table

DANBURY, CT — Firefighters rescued a man trapped beneath a 200-pound stone tabletop on Wednesday evening.

The man had been attempting to move the large stone-topped table in the shipping box when it shifted and fell on top of him. The man's wife was unable to remove the heavy tabletop from her husband, and called 911, according to the fire department.

Danbury Engine 25 and EMS responded, and Engine 25 was able to lift the load off the man, who was taken to the hospital where he was checked as a precaution.

The firefighters' good deeds of the Engine 25 crew did not stop there, however. Lieutenant Jonathan DeJoseph and firefighters Shari Gies and Jeff Perkins put the table together while its owner was being looked after at the hospital.
