Former Danbury Pet Rescue Under Investigation Again
Tails of Courage animal rescue left Danbury for Wolcott, but brought along their controversy.
DANBURY, CT — A pet rescue non-profit that left Danbury under fire is once again under scrutiny at its new location in Wolcott, NBC CT is reporting.
Tails of Courage, accused of maintaining deplorable conditions while operating out of 39 Smith Street in Danbury, pulled up stakes in 2018 in the face of a lawsuit from the city. The pet rescue and adoption operation denied the allegations, and moved into new digs in Wolcott.
Now, six puppies that were in the charge of Tails of Courage are fighting for their lives and two more are dead, according to a report given by Wolcott animal control officer Roslyn Nenninger to NBC CT. Nenninger believes that the dogs came to Tails of Courage from Texas and were stricken with parvo, along the way.

According to the American Kennel Club, puppies ages six weeks to six months which have not been properly vaccinated are the most susceptible to the canine parvovirus. It can cause a slew of horrific symptoms which may include bloody diarrhea, fever, dehydration, anorexia and depression.
State and local animal control were alerted when they received a call from an adopter last week, NBC CT reported. Inspectors who visited the facility on Friday heard a puppy screaming from a back room where animals were being improperly kept in isolation.

Two of the sick puppies are now being treated at Watertown Dog Hospital, according to a post made by the Wolcott Dog Pound on their Facebook page, which describes the dogs as "fighting for their lives." The dog pound is seeking donations to cover the cost of their treatment, expected to cost from $800 to $1,000 per dog.
Patch called Tails of Courage in Wolcott on Wednesday morning and was told by a spokesperson (who would not identify herself) that "At this point we are not ready to make a statement because so much is being misconstrued. A lot of these trolls are after us and I feel as though this is never going to end."
