Former Danbury Postman Diagnosed with Dementia Inspired to Speak by Receiving Mail
A man diagnosed with dementia has been inspired by the hundreds of letters he has received over the past few years.

DANBURY, CT - A former Danbury postman with dementia has been inspired by hundreds of letters from across the country, the Danbury News Times reported.
Jim Gaboardi, 89, has worked as a postman for decades, whose daughter said he had ceased to communicate much in the past few years due to his diagnosis, according to the Danbury News Times. That has since changed, however, after receiving mail in mid-December.
Gaboardi’s daughter posted on Facebook about how much the letters and mail affected her father, urging people to send more, the Danbury News Times reported. He has since received over 250 cards, at times receiving 20 to 30 cards a day.
