Four Danbury Youth Receive National Youth Volunteer Corps Awards

Youth honored for volunteering more than 100 hours with Youth Volunteer Corps of Western Connecticut.

DANBURY, Conn. (November 13, 2014) — Four local youth were honored by Youth Volunteer Corps (YVC) for their service to the local YVC of Western Connecticut program. These youth were awarded with the 100-in-1 Award for youth who have volunteered at least 100 hours with YVC in a single year.

“We’re so proud of the hard-working youth in the YVC of Western Connecticut program,” said David Battey, founder and president of YVC in Kansas City. “Volunteering 100 hours in a single year is a great accomplishment for anyone, let alone teenagers balancing school and other extracurricular activities.”

YVC of Western CT engages youth ages 11-18 in quality, team-based service-learning projects. For five years, YVC of Western CT has engaged young people from diverse backgrounds in service projects helping the community. Nearly 200 youth served 3,679 hours with YVC of Western CT during the last program year.
