Fox Attacks People, Pets In Kent
Animal Control officials reported three attacks in a 24-hour period.
KENT, CT — A fox that attacked three people in the center of town on Thursday was killed Friday night, animal control officials have reported.
"There have been three incidents in the last 24 hours, where people and their pets have either had contact with, or have been bitten by, a fox in Kent Village," wrote First Selectman Jean Speck in a noticed distributed Friday at 6:57 p.m.
The fox was put down according to Animal control officer Lee Sohl on Facebook in a post made at 7 p.m. on Friday. Sohl urged residents to call for help immediately if attacked: "Don’t post it on FB first, or wait a few days- just call 911."

The fox was scheduled to be taken to the state Department of Public Health lab in Rocky Hill for testing.
"Wild animals, even if they don’t appear dangerous, are still extremely unpredictable, and every effort should be made to avoid getting near them," Speck wrote, and advised residents to be aware of their surroundings while out with their pets and have a plan if there is an emergency.
