HOPE with Relay For Life of New Fairfield

Cancer is relentless and does not let up; but neither does the Relay For Life of New Fairfield’s Committee! From Kick off on January 22nd with our teams, survivors, caregivers, generous sponsors, and the HamletHub, to Summit on January 26th with Event Leaders from around the area; Cancer cannot win when we are in the game!

Most of the adult Committee members (Event Leadership Team or ELT) and several Student Committee members could be found attending the American Cancer Society’s 2019 Lower Hudson Relay For Life Summit in Norwalk Connecticut. There they got to visit the Norwalk American Cancer Society office and see in person the real effects for their hard work, fundraising and event building. They got to learn about all the things volunteers and their dollars do. For instance, did you know, money raised is allocated to programs specifically for patients? One such program provides rides to patients for their treatment. This program (the Road to Recovery) is vital. The toll a cancer diagnosis takes on the body and the psyche is already tremendous. Can you imagine not having a ride to or from your life saving treatment? The Road to Recovery is completely funded by the American Cancer Society and is able to happen because of, you guessed it, volunteers. Anyone can offer to drive a couple times a month if someone is in their area. Even a single ride can make a huge impact on someone’s life.

The Relay community is devoted to raising awareness and funds so everyone has a chance to find a little peace in the diagnosis, a little ease in the struggle and the HOPE that one day Cancer will no longer take lives. Being a part of our Relay For Life Family and community is a lot simpler than you would think. It does not take hours upon hours or money you don’t have. A ride, a dollar donation, a team, a ponytail cut for a wig; all make a difference.

• Start a team
• Speak at a ceremony
• Offer your talents for entertainment
• Join our Event Leadership Team or Committee

Now is the perfect time to make the choice, like our Committee, 24 teams and 126 participants (and counting!), to make a difference in Your Community. We will help you every step of the way so now is the time! Also, all teams registered by Midnight on February 3rd will get entered into our VIP Registration package! Gifts, swag, a VIP sign AND a VIP parking spot right up front event day!
