One of several charitable organizations recognized

Housatonic Habitat for Humanity was one of several charitable organizations recognized at a recent meeting by the Rotary Club of Danbury. Danbury Rotary Club member Michele Geffert presented a donation in support of Housatonic Habitat’s mission. Fran Normann, Executive Director of Housatonic Habitat told the Rotarians about the Habitat model of building homes for underserved, first-time, home buyers and its Habitat-held mortgage model which makes homeownership affordable. She also gave an overview of other Habitat projects, including its Brush with Kindness home-repair services and its ReStore, a 10,000 sq. ft. thrift warehouse at 51 Austin St. in Danbury.
Housatonic Habitat for Humanity is both a builder and a bank, building affordable homes for working families who might not qualify for a traditional mortgage. In addition, Housatonic Habitat provides home repairs for homeowners who are aging in place.
