Incarcerated Danbury Man to Face Further Charges

Among the latest charges is assaulting an elderly person, police report

DANBURY, CT — A incarcerated Danbury man who admitted to additional crimes while being investigated by police now faces additional charges, police are reporting.

On Sep. 4, an overnight, residential burglary was reported in the Liberty Street area. The suspect, later identified as Eddinson Sanchez, 23, of 9 Brushy Hill Road, climbed into a second story bedroom window and stole items while the resident slept. When the resident awoke and confronted him, Sanchez threatened the resident with a large kitchen knife and fled, according to police.

With the assistance of the public, police were able to identify Sanchez from surveillance video recorded at a nearby business.

When police were interviewing Sanchez about the burglary, he admitted to robbing an elderly woman near St. Peter’s Church on Oct. 22, among other crimes. When Sanchez stole the woman’s purse, he pushed her down, causing her to suffer significant injuries, police reported.

Following the investigation, police were granted arrest warrants for Sanchez by the Danbury Superior Court. When police served Sanchez with the warrants, he was already incarcerated.

Sanchez was charged with first-degree burglary, risk of injury to a minor, second-degree threatening, second- and sixth-degree larceny, first-degree robbery, credit card theft, and third-degree assault on an elderly person.
