Jury Selection Set In Danbury Human Trafficking Ring Trial
The human trafficking ring victimized mentally disabled men and boys for over two decades

DANBURY, CT — Jury selection is set to begin in the trial of a Glastonbury man accused of being part of a human trafficking ring that victimized mentally disabled men and boys for over two decades, Fox61 is reporting.
The defense and prosecution on the case of Bruce Bemer are scheduled to begin picking jurors in Danbury Superior Court on Wednesday.
Bemer, owner of the New London Waterford Speedbowl, rejected a plea deal last month which could have kept him out of jail.

Police allege that the ring exploited young males with mental health issues. The victims were delivered to wealthy clients.
Robert King, of Danbury, ran the operation, according to an arrest warrant. He targeted those with mental health issues ranging from depression to schizophrenia in a sex-for-money scheme, the warrant stated. King has pleaded guilty and awaits sentencing. William Trefzger, of Westport, was also named as part of the sex trafficking operation and was sentenced to a year in prison.
