Maria Lurdes DeMedeiros, 84, of Danbury, Passed Away Peacefully
Mrs. DeMedeiros was an active and founding member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Danbury.

DANBURY, CT — Maria Lurdes DeMedeiros, 84, of Danbury, CT passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, April 30, 2016. She was the wife of the late Jose DeMedeiros.
Born in San Miguel, Azores, Portugal to the late Jose Cabral Moniz and Elvira de Almeida , she immigrated to the United States in 1969. A former employee with American Radionics, she retired most recently from Fairfield Processing in 1996.
An active and founding member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Danbury, she was an active volunteer with the Senhor Santo Cristo, Divino Espirito Santo and Nossa Senhora de Fatima feasts. A wonderful cook, Maria lived her life for her church, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and great great-grandson.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the nurses and aides of the 8th Floor at Danbury Hospital and to Regional Hospice and Home Care of Western CT.
Besides her husband and parents, Maria was predeceased by her brother, John Moniz.
Survivors include her children: Manuel DeMedeiros and his wife, Valdemira, of Danbury; Connie Mota and her husband, Luis, of Danbury; John Medeiros and his wife, Debbie, of Montevallo, AL; Lydia Sousa and her husband, Luis, of Danbury and Maria Ines Moniz and her husband, Leonildo, of Ontario, Canada. 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, one great great-grandson as well as many nieces and nephews also survive.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 149 Deer Hill Ave., Danbury with the Rev. Jose Britto-Martins, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
Friends will be received from 5pm-8pm on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury.
