Motorist Killed In Accident Involving Tractor Trailer: Danbury FD

DANBURY, CT — A motorist was killed in an accident involving an SUV and a tractor-trailer on Thursday morning.

The Danbury Fire Department responded to the report of a vehicle fire in the vicinity of Mill Plain Road and Saw Mill Road near the New York state line shortly before 7 a.m., according to fire officials.

Subsequent reports revealed the accident had occurred in New York State and there was one motorist trapped in the SUV. The "initial assignment was quickly elevated to an extrication assignment, prompting additional resources from the Danbury Fire Department," according to a news release from the DFD.

First responders discovered both vehicles engulfed in flames, which were extinguished in minutes, fire officials said. The driver of the SUV lost their life in the crash.

The accident is under investigation by the New York State Police.
