
Danbury adopted a $238 million budget that includes a 2.4 percent tax increase, the News Times reports.
According to the paper, the budget was approved by the Republican controlled City Council. All six democrats on the 21-member council voted against the spending plan.
The budget has a mill rate of 28.26, which means a homeowner with a house assessed at $220,000 will pay $80 more in taxes this year, the paper reports. The budget also calls for $30 million in capital spending.

Overall, the budget represents a 0.8 percent increase in spending, the paper reports. The new budget goes into effect July 1.
