New Permanent Location Named for Uncle Sam Statue in Danbury

DANBURY, CT — An American -- and a Danbury -- Icon has found its new, permanent home.

Mayor Mark Boughton announced on Twitter Thursday morning that the 38-foot statue of Uncle Sam will be located at the Danbury Railway Museum.

Installation work will begin on Friday.

The statue was taken to Robin's Graphics in Harwinton in February for a makeover after being stored in a hanger at the Danbury Airport following its return from the Magic Forest Amusement Park in Lake George, NY, last year.

The world's largest statue of Uncle Sam presided over the Danbury Fair from 1971 to 1981.
