According to the DPW, Hat City's favorite greeter may have led a double life...

DANBURY, CT — The Uncle Sam statue is on another road trip.

The iconic official greeter at the Danbury Fair from 1971 to 1981, who only returned home recently after 35 years at the Magic Forest Amusement Park in Lake George, N.Y., is hitting the road for some rest-and-restoration.

The Danbury Public Works Department posted an update on Uncle's odyssey to social media Wednesday, showing the 38-foot-tall star-spangled colossus being loaded onto a flatbed truck.

"Our restoration vendor Robin just sent me some pictures of what he just found a few minutes ago," a DPW spokesperson wrote on Instagram. "Under his face there is a whole another face! His old face was built over a whole bunch of newspaper from 1974. His old face has some crazy eyes!"

Danbury's Uncle Sam statue is the largest Uncle Sam statue in the world.
