New Planning Director Takes Over in Danbury

Calitro was the deputy planner for nine years and then was the acting planning director.

There’s a new planning director in the city of Danbury.

Sharon Calitro, acting planning director since Dennis Elpern retired in November, officially took over Wednesday, according to an article in the Danbury News-Times.

She will earn $116,000 in her new position.

Previously, as deputy planner, Calitro spent nine year drafting zoning amendments, developing regulations and revising capital improvement programs, the News-Times reported.

Calitro has a master’s degree in urban planning from Columbia University.
