New York Temple Moves Into Danbury
Temple Beth El is a Reform congregation created by former members of Temple Beth Elohim, Brewster, NY.
DANBURY, CT — Temple Beth El, a Reform congregation created by former members of Temple Beth Elohim, Brewster, NY, is settling into its new home in Danbury, since holding its first service in mid-November.
The congregation shares a 64-year-old synagogue with the United Jewish Center at 141 Deer Hill Avenue in Danbury.
Led by Rabbi Laurie Gold, the temple holds services every Friday evening at 7:30 pm, except for the family service, which is held the first Friday of the month at 7 p.m. The temple also offers a Sisterhood and Men's Club, Social Action Committee and Youth Group, and sponsors social gatherings and outreach to homeless shelters and the elderly.

"We are a congregation that supports a wide range of programs and activities for members of all ages," Gold said. "We want to build a community based on inclusiveness, where everyone is welcome, regardless of age, marital status, sexual orientation, a Jew by birth or by choice."
