Obituary: Alzira Lopes Braguez, 102, Of Danbury

A talented seamstress, Mrs. Braguez enjoyed cooking, gardening, and singing and participated in numerous theatrical productions.

DANBURY, CT — Alzira Lopes Braguez, 102, of Danbury, wife of the late Francisco Braguez, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, July 11, 2022.

Mrs. Braguez was born in Ferreiroz, do Dao, Portugal, on Aug. 3, 1919, a daughter of the late Antonio Canhao and Maria Jose de Jesus. She attended schools in Portugal and immigrated to the United States in 1961 settling in Danbury.

She was a member of the former Portuguese American Club and was a dedicated volunteer.
A talented seamstress, Mrs. Braguez enjoyed cooking, gardening, and singing and participated in numerous theatrical productions. Alzira will be remembered for her selfless dedication to her loving family and to anyone that crossed her path. She had the most beautiful giving heart and cared deeply for all, especially for the less fortunate.

She is survived by three daughters and three sons-in-law whom she loved as her own, Cila Domingos (Nelo), Bela Soares (Tony), and Nela Monteiro (Victor), six grandchildren Dulcy Kozlowski (Tom), Victor Domingos (Kathy), Jonathan Soares (Chloe), Ryan Soares (Nicole), Tyler Soares (Lexi) and Loren Monteiro (Andy), and six great-grandchildren, Logan, Landen, Evan, Ellie, Penelope, and Julien.

A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Friday, July 15, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. at His Vineyard Christian Fellowship, 2 Vail Rd., Bethel.

The family will receive friends at His Vineyard Christian Fellowship on Friday, July 15, 2022, from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Mrs. Braguez will be laid to rest next to her husband in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury following the service.

The family would like to thank all her loving caregivers throughout her later years. A special thank you to the staff and administration at Hancock Hall where she resided. May The Lord reward all of you immensely.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Braguez's memory may be made to His Vineyard Christian Fellowship.
